Rooted in Faith

We believe the God of the Bible to be the creator, sustainer, and ultimate authority in our life. We will see Him reflected in everything we do. We believe the ultimate knowledge to be knowledge of God.

Respecting the Child

LRC recognizes that all children are born image bearers of God-capable of engaging with real ideas from a young age. For this reason we utilize living books and narration style assessment in our classrooms.

partnering with Parents

LRC recognizes parents as the primary educators of their children. We come alongside by providing the core subjects in a short time period, leaving families meaningful time to spend together and in their community.

Little River Collective will be held Monday through Thursday

9:30 AM — 1:30 PM

Why choose a Homeschool hybrid?

Many families turn to alternative schooling options to escape the existing fast-pace, assessment driven schooling models. While homeschooling provides families more time to spend together, school at their child’s pace and to select a curriculum that reflects their values, it is not without its challenges. Many homeschooling families long for greater structure, support with multiple grades, and consistent community for their children. Simply put, they want the benefits of homeschooling but do not want to homeschool alone.

At Little River Collective we partner with parents on this homeschooling endeavor by providing a life-giving, classroom-style learning atmosphere four days a week. Based on the educational philosophy of 20th century educator Charlotte Mason, facilitators at Little River Collective cover all of the core subjects between 9am-1pm, leaving families time for extracurriculars, community investment, and play. As a collective, we lighten the load for homeschooling families while preserving  many of the benefits a home education offers.

raising lifelong learners

Equipping students to engage the world with their whole selves.

  • Children are engaged

Intentional classroom structure and assessment style challenge students not simply to know material, but rather to care deeply about what they learn.

  • Children are reflective

Children assimilate new information through play and conversation, and short days are intentionally designed to provide space for that reflection.

  • Children are compassionate

Lessons incorporate a variety of perspectives through literature, history, and folklore encouraging students to consider different points of view.
